Multidimensional manufacturing with ACOPOS 6D
ACOPOS 6D, a new solution to smart manufacturing from B&R Industrial Automation. Magnetic levitating shuttles sized at 240 x 240mm float over the surface of electromagnetic segments moving individual products of payloads of up to 14kg freely through the machine, eliminating standard transport systems.
The shuttles can move freely in a two-dimensional space, rotating and tilting along three axes. The segments can be arranged freely and reach speeds of up to 2 meters per second offering precise control over the height of levitation.
Key Benefits
Space Saving - Offering up to four times the shuttle density of other systems on the market through the unique ability to control four shuttles on the same motor segment simultaneously. Each shuttle acts as a high-precision scales meaning weighing stations can be eliminated entirely making it possible to design a more compact machine.
No Wear and Tear - The shuttles levitate without any contact or friction meaning no wear and therefore there are no parts to be maintained. If a stainless-steel cover is placed over the motor segments, ACOPOS 6D offers IP69K protection making it ideally suited for cleanrooms or food and beverage production.
Intelligent shuttles – Each ACOPOS 6D shuttle is assigned a global unique ID. Production can commence without time consuming manual input as the controller immediately knows the location of each shuttle on the motor segments.
Easy Setup – There are nearly infinite possibilities in machine design and still remarkably easy to set up. The shuttles can avoid collisions due to algorithms which control the path, ensuring developers are free to concentrate on other important jobs they have, delivering maximum productivity.
ACOPOS 6D can be used in any manufacturing, assembly or packaging process where flexibility of material movement, accurate placement or compact footprint is required. ACOPOS 6D is ideal for small-batch production with frequent changeover between products of different designs and dimensions. Typical applications include medical device assembly and consumer electronics.
