Test, FAT / SAT & Commissioning

Ensuring that your automation, control and safety systems work first time, every time.  Applied Integration provides structured testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning services so you can go live with confidence, minimise disruption and prove compliance.

Overview

From panel build to full plant integration, we provide end-to-end test and commissioning support:

  • Formal, documented FAT at our works or your site
  • SAT aligned with your operational constraints and safety processes
  • Controlled start-up, ramp-up and optimisation of production
  • Evidence packs to demonstrate performance, safety and compliance

What We Do

Test strategy & planning – Test objectives, scope and success criteria aligned with project standards and the V-model.

Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) – Off-line testing of PLC, SCADA, safety and comms; I/O simulation, sequence and fault testing; witness FAT and sign-off.

Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) – On-site verification of installation, loop and I/O checks, end-to-end functional tests and integration with existing systems.

Commissioning & start-up – Cold and hot commissioning, controlled introduction of live product/media, tuning of loops and sequences, optimisation to target performance.

Validation & handover – Test reports, punch-list management, as-commissioned documentation and operator/maintenance training.

Test strategy & planning

  • Project structures aligned to your lifecycle (V-model, stage-gates, assurance needs)
  • Work item types for requirements, tests, defects, risks and changes
  • Defined traceability rules and reporting templates
  • Customised dashboards and documents aligned to your standards

Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

  • Workshops and interviews across operations, engineering, safety, cyber and management
  • Capture directly into Polarion as structured, testable requirements
  • Classification for functional, performance, safety, security and regulatory needs
  • Supporting diagrams, specs and artefacts linked to items

Structuring, Linking & Traceability

  • Logical hierarchies for systems, subsystems, software and interfaces
  • Links to hazards, mitigations, design elements and test plans
  • Real-time tracking of coverage, completeness and impact
  • Automated traceability matrices and V-model alignment

Review, Baseline & Change Control

  • Online collaborative reviews with full audit history
  • Requirements baselined at key milestones
  • Controlled change management with impact analysis
  • Auto-generated review packs, baselines and compliance reports

Integration with Design & Test

  • Links between requirements, design documentation and code modules
  • Test cases and results tied directly to requirements they verify
  • Defect management linked to original requirement intent
  • Evidence packs for FAT/SAT, safety cases and acceptance

Typical Applications

New lines, cells and process plants

Control system upgrades and migrations (PLC / SCADA / DCS)

Safety instrumented systems and machine safety upgrades

Robotics, AMR/AGV and automated material handling

Utilities, energy and process plant

Defence and other mission-critical facilities

Our Process

Plan – Agree test strategy, scope and acceptance criteria.

Prepare – Develop, simulate and dry-run logic and HMI where appropriate.

FAT – Execute formal FAT, capture issues and retest to closure.

SAT – Prove performance on site under real operating conditions.

Commission – Bring systems safely into service and optimise performance.

Handover – Deliver final documentation, training and options for ongoing support.
